Me
My name is Martha but prefer to be called
Pepper. I am a small breeder of Japanese Chin, also
known as Japanese Spaniels. I am originally from Louisiana
but during 2005 relocated to Tyler, Texas. I am married,
have grown children and grandchildren.
I think it all started for me when I had a black and white
Pekingese that a vet thought was a Japanese Chin. That was
back in the 70's. There I go dating myself. Anyway, I was
intrigued with the breed and began my search to find out
more. Finally in 1998 I met my first Chin in person. I was
immediately "Chinned" and had to have one.
I worked for a veterinarian and a client came in with a pair
of Chin, and much to my delight she was expecting pups. As
luck would have it her pups were all spoken for so I would
have to wait. Things began to look up though when she
decided she didn't approve of one of the homes that wanted a
pup....the rest is history. It began with Butler. He was
born on May 14, 1999, he began to own me in August. By
January I had another..........now my husband and I are
owned by 15 Chin. They are our "Chindren". I have a few that
I show but between shows they are just one of the kids.
Our home is run for the service and convenience of our
Chindren. They eat with us, sleep with us and travel with
us. Butler rode with us on our Harley for several years (but
that is another story).
I am only a small breeder and allow only selective breeding
one or two litters every year or so. I breed both show prospects
and companion Japanese Chin. After careful screening and
consideration they are available to select homes.
Chin are very special little creatures and deserve only the
best of care. To know a Chin is to love a Chin and to be
loved by a Chin (or 20) is something you can't explain.
